From
birth through age two, gross motor activities and sensory motor
experiences are crucial to brain and motor development. Wee Exercise
helps parents boost infant development through play, taking advantage
of important windows of opportunities for infant motor skills development
and early brain growth. The following infant development activities
are examples from our video series.

|

Wee Rock-N-Roll
This movement activity
places baby on his tummy for distributing weight through his
arms and hands. The Wee Exercise Roll
adds support for new strength and skill development.
|

Bouncy Baby Bop
This exercise challenges baby's trunk strength for advanced
sitting and reaching. As baby moves forward, backward and side-to-side
on a large ball, he really enjoys being on this movable surface.
|

A Tisket a Tasket Basket
Using a laundry
basket to provide surround support for baby, allow him to sit
and hold
onto the basket. The support of the laundry basket is reassuring
as he practices gaining
in balance in a seated position.
|

Blankie Sit Ups
For "abs of
steel" lie baby on his back on his favorite blankie then grasp
the edges of the blanket to cradle him and lift him up in a baby
sit-up. As baby feels and learns the motion, he contracts his
tummy muscles.

Let Baby's Knees do the
Walking
The knee walk
is baby's first steps in
mobility to help her learn how to move
her legs up for upright walking. This fun movement gets baby upright
to explore
his new world. From crawling to cruising:
Ready, set, knee walk.

Airplane Zoom
Let baby check
out his environment and hold his head up for an exciting airplane
ride. This exercise promotes visual stimulation and challenges
baby to lift his head against gravity and move to and fro.
